On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee voted unanimously to support House Study Bill 68, which is a joint resolution for an amendment to the Iowa Constitution to restore voting rights to felons. Gov. Kim Reynolds says this sends a strong message in favor of second chances and forgiveness. “It highlights the broad commitment of supporters for a Constitutional Amendment and another step forward to give Iowans a vote on this issue,” Reynolds says. The committee vote moves the proposed bill through the first funnel and it will now be eligible for consideration on the House Floor.
