No Injuries Reported In Pair Of Motor Vehicle Accidents Wednesday

No injuries were reported in two motor-vehicle accidents in Carroll Wednesday. The first accident occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of 3rd and Clark Streets. According to the Carroll Police Department, 68-year-old Gene Nellesen of Carroll was traveling east on 3rd Street in a 2006 Dodge Dakota and had stopped for a posted stop sign. A 2009 Nissan Murano, driven by 19-year-old Morgan Dettman of Ames, was also traveling eastbound and failed to stop in time for the Nellesen vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage, and Dettman was cited for failure to maintain control. The second accident occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of 10th and West Streets. A 2006 Ford Taurus, driven by 64-year-old Marian Berger of Carroll, was traveling southbound on West Street and was struck by a 2006 Cadillac SRX, driven by 24-year-old Aaron Thompson of Carroll. Thompson had stopped for a posted stop sign on 10th Street and proceeded into the intersection, failing to yield to the oncoming Berger vehicle. The Cadillac sustained only minor damage, but the Ford was disabled and towed from the scene. Thompson was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
