Coon Rapids Man Is Accused Of Stealing World War II-Era Stove From Rural Carroll County Cabin

A Coon Rapids man, who is accused of stealing a nearly 80-year-old wood-burning stove, made his initial court appearance last week. According to Carroll County District Court records, 23-year-old Wyatt Armstrong Davis is charged with third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. The charge stems from an incident near Coon Rapids near the beginning of the year. The stove, which is valued between $500 and $1,000 and dates back to World War II, was reported stolen in early January from a cabin about five miles northwest of town. Davis allegedly admitted to taking the stove and installing it in the detached garage at his residence in Coon Rapids. An arrest warrant was issued on Feb. 7 after he failed to appear for a court hearing, and he was taken into custody by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office the following day. Davis has entered a not guilty plea to the theft charge against him and was released on his own recognizance after appearing before the magistrate. If found guilty, he faces up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
