A Windsor Heights man made an initial appearance in District Court for Carroll County earlier this week for allegedly stealing a pickup truck. According to court records, 35-year-old Christopher John Greteman appeared before a magistrate Tuesday, Feb. 5 and was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony. The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 11 in the 100 block of Main Street in Coon Rapids. In a criminal complaint from the Coon Rapids Police Department, authorities say Greteman had spent the day at the victim’s house and asked if he could give him a ride. When the victim returned to his home around 2 p.m., he found Greteman asleep on the couch and did not attempt to wake him. The truck was discovered missing approximately four hours later. Greteman allegedly told the owner he would return the truck to him by 11 a.m. the following morning. When the pickup was not returned, the vehicle was reported missing and a warrant for Greteman was issued. He was arrested and transported to the Carroll County jail. He was later released on a promise to appear at future court proceedings. If found guilty of the charge, Greteman faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
