No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident in Schaller last Sunday morning. Deputies with the Sac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at the 100 block of South Dundas Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. Upon arrival, authorities located 24-year-old Nickolas John Mount of Storm Lake in the passenger seat of a damaged Buick Rendezvous. Following an initial investigation, law enforcement determined Mount had lost control of his vehicle as he was turning onto Dundas Street and struck a tree. Mount allegedly admitted to authorities that he was the Buick’s driver. Authorities also discovered that Mount had been drinking at a bar in Schaller prior to the accident. Witnesses report he had gotten into an argument with a passenger before leaving. He was arrested and transported to the Sac County jail, where he was charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor.
