For the third time in a little over a month, the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education will meet in closed session to conduct a superintendent evaluation. Tonight’s (Wednesday) meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in the Adams Elementary School boardroom. According to the published agenda, the board has set aside three hours for the evaluation and it is the only item of business to be discussed. The first assessment of the year for Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Lein, was held on Jan. 3, followed by another on Jan. 31. Under Iowa Code, “A closed session may be conducted to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered in order to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that person’s reputation and a closed session is requested.” Board President, Jen Munson, has indicated these meetings are part of an ongoing, performance-based assessment of superintendents that was implemented several years ago.
