A Westside man is uninjured after hitting a tree in a single-vehicle accident last Friday. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports that 20-year-old Samuel Joseph Ritchie was negotiating a left-hand turn at Swan Lake State Park when he lost control of the 2014 Ford Fusion he was driving. The vehicle slid off of the roadway, went through a wire fence and hit a tree. There was an estimated $4,000 in damage done to the Fusion and $400 to the state park fencing. Ritchie was cited for failure to maintain control as well as possession of alcohol by a person 18/19/20, first offense.
