Second-Annual Rib And Chili Cook-Off In Manning Poised To Be Bigger And Better Than The First

Last year, Manning Hausbarn-Heritage Park hosted their first annual Rib and Chili Cook-Off, and it was a rousing success. More than 300 people sampled ribs from 17 grillers and chili from 14 chefs, raising more than $15,000 through sponsorships, attendance and the sale of auction items. Elizabeth Leo, a new member of the Hausbarn-Heritage Park team, says the Saturday, March 2, 2019 event will be even better. They are again planning on a silent auction and a live dessert auction to take place that evening. Ticket sales open today (Friday) and can be purchased at 1st National Bank, Templeton Savings Bank, the Manning Pharmacy and the Market Place. The $10 tickets will give each attendee four ribs and unlimited chili tasting along with sides. If desired, guests will be able to purchase additional rib tickets as well. The public portion of the evening will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Spots for the competitions are limited and only a select few remain open with nine confirmed rib grillers and five chili chefs already signed up. New entries will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Sponsorships are also still available and open until Feb. 15.
