Carroll PD Responds To Two Accidents On Friday

Carroll officers responded to two accidents on Friday. The first occurred at approximately 8:07 a.m. at the intersection of 18th and Main Streets. A Carroll Community School District-owned bus, driven by 54-year-old Jeffrey Lower of Carroll, was stopped facing east on 18th Street. A 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 58-year-old Lisa Saunders of Carroll, was also eastbound on 18th behind the bus. Saunders was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the school bus, causing minor damage to both vehicles. It is unclear how many students were on the bus at the time, but no injuries were reported. Saunders was cited for failure to maintain control. The second accident occurred at 11:30 a.m. in the 800 block of East Highway 30. A 2012 Buick Verano, driven by 21-year-old Brooke Warneka of Carroll, was attempting to enter Highway 30. A 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 28-year-old Derek Huffman of Boone, was eastbound when Warneka pulled out onto the highway, striking the passenger side of the Huffman car. Both vehicles suffered functional damage but no injuries were reported. Warneka was cited for failure to yield upon entering a highway.
