A Breda man, originally charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and marijuana, class C and class D felonies, has been sentenced to probation in District Court for Carroll County. After reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors, the charges against 36-year-old Andrew Vernon Wempe were reduced to possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, both serious misdemeanors. He was ordered to pay nearly $600 in fines and surcharges and was placed on informal probation with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. The charges stem from an incident on March 31, 2018 near Maple River. He was found in possession of 2.22 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale and clear plastic baggies following a traffic stop. Wempe received a deferred judgement on both counts, meaning court records regarding the charges will be expunged on the successful completion of his probation. He was one of two Breda men that were shot in the legs on April 12, 2018 by Robert John Morris of Carroll. Morris reached a plea agreement on Dec. 14 for the multiple felony charges against him and is awaiting sentencing.
