A Jefferson man faces multiple misdemeanor charges after becoming violent with law enforcement Wednesday evening. According to the Jefferson Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:13 p.m. to the 700 block of North Cedar Street on a report of an aggressive, intoxicated male. When police arrived on scene, they made contact with the suspect, 57-year-old Michael Allen Olson. Officers attempted to take Olson into custody and a brief struggle occurred. As he was being transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center, Olson repeatedly struck his head against the vehicle’s back cage, causing a cut to his forehead. He continued to physically resist law enforcement as he was being booked. Once inside a cell, Olson injured his head again by banging it against the jail door. Greene County Emergency Medical Services was contacted to treat the man for his self-inflicted injuries. Olson has been charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, both simple misdemeanors, and assault on a peace officer and interference with official acts, serious misdemeanors. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Jefferson Police Department during the incident.
