Formal charges have been brought against a Carroll man accused of robbing a Coon Rapids convenience store and smashing a stolen truck into the Glidden Country Store. According to trial information filed on Monday, 32-year-old Eric Paul Greteman faces three felony counts, all with habitual offender enhancements, in Carroll County District Court: first-degree robbery, a class B felony; first-degree theft, a class C felony; and third-degree burglary, a class D felony. The charges stem from multiple incidents on Oct. 31 in Carroll, Coon Rapids and Glidden. At approximately 7:31 p.m., Greteman committed an armed robbery at the Coon Rapids Country Store, taking $120 of merchandise in the process. He then fled in a Dodge Ram pickup truck that had been reported stolen out of Carroll earlier that day. He then used it to break through a door at the Glidden Country Store shortly after 11 p.m. and stole several cartons of cigarettes and an energy drink. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10 at the Carroll County Courthouse. Greteman faces a maximum punishment of 40 years in prison and $17,500 in fines, but those penalties could be enhanced, due to his status as a habitual offender.
