Carroll Chamber Of Commerce Is Busy Preparing For 2019

As the end of the year rushes towards us, the Carroll Chamber of Commerce is reminding area businesses that they are currently conducting a membership drive. Executive Director, Shannon Landauer, says they really started preparing for 2019 in earnest about mid-November.

Also in preparation for the upcoming year, Landauer attended the National Rural Economic Developers (NRED) Conference in St. Petersburg, Fla. at the beginning of this month.

She says the focus was on topics that are impacting businesses and residents right here at home, in Carroll and across the state.

Landauer adds that discussions with other Midwestern state representatives, brought to the forefront the similarity in challenges. She says they too are dealing with workforce issues, business incentives and site and building development. She was also able to meet with some site consultants, who are hired by companies to select their next location.

In looking back over her more than 10 years in the position, Landauer says when she first started workforce was priority number seven or eight. It has now moved up to number one or two. Physical location is still important, but now for a business to consider a community, the infrastructure needs to be in place to offer not only the capabilities they need on site, but to also provide an opportunity for ease in telecommuting. The connections made and experiences shared will certainly help develop the framework for the Carroll Chamber of Commerce and the local businesses they represent for the year to come.
