Casey’s General Stores received a bonus for selling the nearly $343 million Powerball lottery ticket at their Redfield store, then turned around and gave that windfall back to the community. On Tuesday, officials with Casey’s and the Iowa Lottery held a press conference to present checks totaling the $10,000 to three area organizations. West Central Valley High School received the lion’s share, getting $5,000, while $2,500 went to the Redfield Fire Department and $2,500 to Redfield First Responders. “Having the opportunity to invest this money back into the Redfield community is an honor for us,” says Vice President of Marketing for Casey’s, Mike Richardson. “We’ve always been proud of our rural Casey’s communities and are happy to share this gift with them.” To continue the celebration for the small central Iowa community, Casey’s and the Iowa Lottery are also going to mail two free coupons to all addresses in the Redfield zip code. One coupon will be for a free Casey’s pizza, valid only at their Redfield store, and the other a free, easy-pick Powerball play. Iowa Lottery CEO, Terry Rich, says it has been fun working with Casey’s and they are proud to be a part of this story.
