An investigation to identify an individual passing counterfeit money has been initiated by the Jefferson Police Department. At approximately 3:54 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, they were notified by A&W about the receipt of a counterfeit $20 bill. The male subject who attempted to pass the phony money fled the scene when store employees advised him it was not actual U.S. currency. Authorities are reviewing video evidence to identify the suspect. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Jefferson Police Department at 515-386-2136.
