Carroll Woman Headed To Prison On Theft Charges After Probation Violations

A Carroll woman has had her probation revoked and will be serving time on a 2017 charge. On Thursday, Oct. 25, 38-year-old Misty Dawn Winfield was found guilty and ordered to serve the suspended portion of her original sentence of up to two years on a third-degree theft charge, an aggravated misdemeanor. Winfield entered a guilty plea and was sentenced on Aug. 24, 2017 for an offense that occurred on Feb. 09, 2017.  In addition to the suspended sentence, Winfield was ordered to pay restitution and court costs of more than $1,700. She came before the courts again in June of this year for a probation violation, at which time she was ordered to enter a residential treatment facility for 180 days or until maximum benefits are achieved and again to pay court costs and restitution. Because of the theft and previous convictions, the third strike came with Thursday’s revocation. According to online court records, Winfield is still responsible for more than $1,440 in fines, surcharges and court costs.
