During the first few weeks of September, employees of St. Anthony Regional Hospital conducted a food drive in honor of their founders, the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. The items collected were then donated to help fill the shelves of the Carroll Community of Concern Food Pantry. Various departments throughout the hospital challenged each other to meet or exceed 113 items, to match the number of years the Franciscan Sisters have sponsored St. Anthony. That goal was easily met and surpassed with the collection of more than 2,000 items. Chaplain of the Spiritual Care Department, Peg Scheidt, says this is the most she has ever seen collected in a St. Anthony food drive. “Thank you to everyone who helped make a difference to our friends, neighbors and those in need, in honor of the Franciscan Sisters,” Scheidt says. “We are so proud of the efforts of our staff and friends here at St. Anthony who put the gospel of love in action.”
