Lake City officials have postponed making a decision on hiring a community coordinator. For months, the Betterment Association and the city council have been considering creating a shared position between the two organizations. Administrator, Eric Wood, says they were not able to make a final decision at Monday’s council meeting, due to an unforeseen problem. .
He hopes the council and the Betterment will be able to come to an agreement then. If approved, the coordinator would manage most of the leg work for the popular Western Days celebration in June, the Dell Blair Memorial Chili Cookoff/Fall Fest in September and the Christmas Festival in December. Wood says both organizations could use the help and would like to see the position created.
He adds the only thing that might discourage them from hiring an event coordinator is the potential cost. That discussion will take place at the next Lake City council meeting on Monday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. in City Hall.
