A man accused of breaking into a home in Manning and attacking an individual inside has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. According to court records, 35-year-old Anthony John Bruns of Manning plead guilty on Thursday to assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor, and third-degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor. Bruns was originally charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony, after he kicked his way into a home in the 300 block of 3rd Street, punched a man sleeping inside and caused approximately $5,000 in damage to the interior. The agreement states a three-year prison sentence will be suspended in exchange for his guilty plea, and Bruns will be placed on probation for a period of two years. He will also be ordered to pay over $1,000 in fines and surcharges, $700 in victim restitution and more than $1,000 in court costs and court-appointed attorney fees. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
