Five more Iowa communities will be getting fiber-optic delivered gigabit internet service from Breda Telephone Corporation, more commonly known as Western Iowa Networks. Work on the expansion of their fiber optic network begin this past spring in Pacific Junction, Macedonia and Farragut. These three southwest Iowa communities can expect to see their service become active in the spring of 2019. Closer to home, work also began earlier this year in Mt. Carmel and Maple River, and these communities are expected to be brought online a bit sooner, seeing service starting this fall. “Residents in these two communities have been asking us to bring fiber optics for a few years,” says WIN Marketing Manager, West Treadway. “We were finally able to put together a business plan and work with residents to make it happen.” Treadway adds that many of these community members have said they can’t wait to have the services up and running. This will provide them the option to choose from phone and internet with speeds up to one gigabit and digital television services.
