Carroll Man Charged With Drug Trafficking Sentenced To Probation

A Carroll man accused of drug trafficking was sentenced to probation today (Tuesday) in District Court for Carroll County. According to court records, 39-year-old David Alexander Schroeder was formally charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class B felony and possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. The charges stem from a search warrant executed in the 500 block of South Main Street in April of 2017. Authorities located multiple baggies of methamphetamine, marijuana, a glass smoking device and a scale. In exchange for a guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to reduce the trafficking charge to possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, five grams or less, a class C felony, and dismiss the remaining count. A 10-year prison sentence was suspended, and Schroeder was instead placed on probation to the Second Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for three years. He was also ordered to pay nearly $1,500 in fines and surcharges, participate in substance abuse treatments and comply with all rules of his probation.
