DNR Looking For Record Numbers At Second Iowa State Parks’ Volunteer Day

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has set their sights on seeing at least 1,000 volunteers take part in the Iowa State Parks’ Volunteer Day on Saturday, Sept. 22. Iowans can make a difference and make the state’s natural resources better places by volunteering at one of the 40 participating parks in the second year of the event. “Iowa state parks are important places many people enjoy for their natural beauty and outdoor fun they provide,” says Todd Coffelt, chief of the Iowa DNR’s State Parks Bureau. “We know a lot of people want to help care for them, and this is a great opportunity to lend a hand.” Each park will be hosting unique activities, depending on their clean-up needs, but could include litter pick-up, staining or painting buildings, planting trees, clearing trails and more. A full listing of participating parks and their plans can be found by following the link included below.
