Sac County School To Be Part Of IPTV Ready For School Initiative

A Sac County community will be one of 13 taking part in Iowa Public Television’s (IPTV) Ready for School Initiative. Educators, parents, child care providers and community partners from Schaller will be working with educational specialists to implement Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and literacy-based activities for children from two to six years of age. “Iowa Public Television uses the power of technology and media to spark children’s curiosity and excite them about learning,” says Ken Harris, director of Educational Services at IPTV. “Ready for School activities are designed to enhance early reading, math and science skills for young children. This roll-out to the 2018-19 communities furthers IPTV’s efforts to serve families across Iowa with trusted educational content,” Harris adds. This is the sixth year of the program that is based on the work of educational children’s programming from PBS, such as The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, Odd Squad, Martha Speaks, Peg + Cat, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Super WHY!. Ready for School has been deployed in over 100 other Iowa communities prior to this year.
