There are two different ways this weekend for everyone to support Carroll’s first all-inclusive playground and Miracle League baseball field. For families and biking enthusiasts, the day will start with a free ride on the Sauk Rail Trail. Scott Kanne, with the Sauk Rail Trail Association, says it is a valuable feature for the entire area.

The trail, however, is not just for bicyclists, Kanne says.

Those going on either the morning ride or the afternoon one will see many improvements. Kanne says the bridges are all concrete now and they are currently working to pave all the approaches over gravel roads. Houlihan Access, off 3rd Street behind the Drees warehouse, is the newest feature added to the trail.

Representatives from Carroll Broadcasting will be on hand at Houlihan Access from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., offering free refreshments and the opportunity for riders to win tickets to Adventureland, the season opener Iowa State game and more. Then, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the afternoon ride registration will take place at the Piranha Club. This one is open to motorcycles, cars, scooter and bicycles—really, anything with wheels. Kanne says this is a truly unique opportunity for some divergently different groups to get together in support of a great cause.
