Residents in Glidden will be seeing a slight increase to their garbage rates moving forward. The city council approved an ordinance change during a meeting last week that would raise rates by 14 cents to $10.52 per household. The increase was needed due to a bump in tipping rates at the Carroll County Landfill for collectors that went into effect on July 1. Generally, ordinance changes require three readings before being approved, but the council opted to waive the second and third readings in order to implement the increase in a more timely fashion. Residents will see this change reflected on their next garbage bill and on bills going into the future.
