Over-sized Motor Home Takes Out Residential Utility Wires Monday During RAGBRAI In Jefferson

A mobile home travelling through Jefferson on Monday caused some unexpected damage to a local residence. The Jefferson Police Department reports that at approximately 6:35 p.m., they responded to the 400 block of West Central Avenue. They found that a 1985 GMC motor home, owned by Jeff Robinson and being operated by Christopher Manning, both of Des Moines, was westbound on Central. The vehicle was tall enough to have pulled an electrical wire and cable wire off of a residence. There was an estimated $1,000 in damages to the electrical service at the home and the investigating officer is still gathering information on the costs of the electrical and cable wires.
