A Bagley man will be going to prison for up to five years after violating the terms of his probation on burglary charges from 2016. On Thursday, July 12, Carroll County District Associate Judge, Joseph McCarville, imposed the sentence on 30-year-old Jon Phillip Michael Kennedy. Kennedy was charged with both third- and second-degree burglary after entering a Coon Rapids garage, stealing approximately $3,000 in personal property sometime between May 11 and June 1, 2016. He was formally charged in October of 2016 and entered a plea of guilty to the third-degree burglary charge in April of 2018. At that time, the term of up to five years, fines and surcharges were suspended and Kennedy was placed on probation for three years. Online court records show that Kennedy was arrested several times between the 2016 incident and as recent as May. In addition to serving the prison time, Kennedy will also be required to pay court costs and attorney fees of $150.
