Gov. Kim Reynolds has announced the appointment of a new judge to Iowa Judicial District 5A. Michael Jacobson, of Newton, was chosen for the seat on Thursday. He received his law degree from the Drake University Law School and completed his undergraduate studies at South Dakota State University. He currently serves as the Jasper County Attorney. District 5A includes Guthrie, Jasper, Marion, Warren, Madison and Dallas Counties.
