Jefferson Man Arrested On Outstanding Warrants And New Charges After Assault

A Jefferson man has been arrested on outstanding warrants and has had additional charges added to the list after an assault Sunday night. At approximately 7:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to Mahlon Street on reports of a fight in progress. They arrived to find that 45-year-old Ryan James Brown entered the residence and began assaulting a woman. Two men who were present at that time attempted to stop the assault, but a fight ensued between one of them and Brown. Eventually, Brown left and returned to his residence. Officers investigating the assault were aware that Brown had outstanding arrest warrants and they attempted to make contact, but Brown refused to answer the door. Law enforcement was able to gain access and placed him under arrest for the warrants that included probation violations for criminal mischief in the third degree, driving while barred and eluding and failure to appear on two driving while barred charges and second-offense possession of a controlled substance. Brown was transported to the Greene County Medical Center to be treated for wounds he received during the altercation, and once cleared, was arrested on additional charges. Those include: second degree burglary, a class C felony; domestic abuse assault, second offense, a serious misdemeanor; driving while license barred, an aggravated misdemeanor; and assault; disorderly conduct; interference with official acts; and third-degree harassment, all simple misdemeanors.
