Delaying 2018 Street Projects And A 30th Anniversary On The Agenda For The Carroll City Council Monday

On Monday, the Carroll City Council will be reviewing bids received on two projects. The first is for the proposed 2018 street resurfacing project, which includes some curb and driveway replacements, accessibility improvements, minor storm sewer work and hot mix asphalt resurfacing to Bluff, East and West Streets. According to City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, the city received only one bid, and it came in nearly 20 percent over estimates. The bid received from Precision Concrete Services, Inc. of Atlantic was $654,878, which is more than $106,000 over the engineer’s estimate. Pogge-Weaver says Director of Public Works, Randy Krauel, will make a recommendation.

The second bid project that will be reviewed is the American Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades at the entrance to the Carroll Rec Center. The upcoming 30th anniversary of American Home Shield in Carroll brings a special request for Merchants Park before the board at that meeting as well.

All of the parties involved have been working with the fireworks company on the size of the display.

Pogge-Weaver says they have already been in contact with some property owners on the east side of Merchants Park to make them aware of the event. Other items on the agenda include a proposal to update an environmental site assessment at the new City Hall location on North Adams Street and a change to the job description for Captains at the Carroll Police Department. The meeting will get underway at 5:15 p.m. Monday, June 11 in the second-floor council chambers at the Farner Government Building. The public is encouraged to attend.
