The City of Denison has set Sunday, May 13 as the final day of their spring open burning season. Citizens are allowed to dispose of yard waste, such as sticks, leaves and other organic materials with this method. Burning must take place on private property between dusk and dawn and may not include garbage or treated wood. Residents intending to take advantage of this period are asked to follow a few guidelines for the protection of themselves and their neighbors. They recommend clearing a 10-foot space around the planned site, avoiding burns on windy days and maintaining proper supervision while the fire is lit. The city has also provided a yard waste disposal site on South Main Street for residents who do not wish to dispose of waste through burning.
