SMCH Earns Highest Level Of Recognition In Service To Veterans

Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City is proud to announce they have attained We Honor Veterans Level Four status. Many of those who have served our country have had experiences that create unique healthcare challenges. Unfortunately, far too many of our veterans have no access or are not aware of the specialized care offered in their communities. To help provide that vital veteran-centric care and support, Stewart Memorial has been participating in the pioneering We Honor Veterans program, developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The attainment of Level Four status is the highest recognition available in the program. As a partner at this level, Stewart Memorial has increased its professional and organizational capacity to provide quality services for Veterans and their families, developed and strengthened partnerships with hospices, the VA, Veteran organizations and other healthcare organizations, promoted palliative and hospice care for veterans and demonstrated the impact of its Veteran-centered organizational programs. “It is only fitting that the team at SMCH honor those individuals who served our country,” says CEO Cindy Carstens. “Just as we have a mission to provide quality care, they had a mission to assure our freedom. Those veterans have done so much for us like saved us, risked their lives and gave us the freedom we have today.”
