Nolan Duff was born two years ago this past February, and shortly after birth, a lung collapsed. His grandmother, Jane Renze, says that led physicians to seek answers to his health condition through genetic testing. At just two weeks of age, Nolan was diagnosed with a rare condition.
Renze adds they are also short in stature, but the worst thing about the disorder is an insatiable appetite.
Nolan receives growth hormone shots every night for height normalization and to help with his metabolism and brain development. Renze says there is exciting research going on right now in the quest for a cure, and a special event is scheduled for this weekend to raise funds to be used toward that research. Local business owner and supporter, Jim Jensen of Trophies Plus, says they decided that a 5K fun run/walk would fit into the interests of people in the area while still helping Nolan, his parents, Jessica and David Duff, and the rest of his family in their search for the cure of Prader Willi Syndrome. The Nolan’s Knights 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday in Breda.
No pre-registration is required, but those who would like more information can find it on the Nolan’s Knights Facebook page, hosted by Trophies Plus. A link to that page has been included below.
