During the recent Spring Awards Banquet, St. Anthony Regional Hospital (SARH) recognized several of its Auxiliary members. Ardys Albertsen was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for over 25 years of service. Marilyn Hoffman was presented the 2017 Volunteer of the Year award in recognition of the many hours she has provided to the coffee shop, as a cook at the St. Anthony Nursing Home, helping with bake sales, the Tour of Homes, on the calling committee, with blood banks and for seven years as co-president. In total, the 374 member volunteers were recognized for donating just shy of 24,000 hours in 2017. Volunteers from outside of the auxiliary also provided many services to patients and visitors at St. Anthony, totaling over 9,000 hours. “With the help of our volunteers, we are able to accomplish tremendous acts of kindness, raise funds for the hospital and nursing home and extend our mission of compassionate care inspired by faith,” says Ed Smith, President and CEO of St. Anthony. “Every day Auxiliary volunteers offer special talents and abilities to make our hospital and community a better place to live, work and raise our families,” he adds. These volunteers not only work at the information desks in the atrium and surgery center and the Coffee and Gift Shoppe, they also perform clerical duties in many departments, help coordinate community blood drives, and knit and crochet prayer shawls and items for every baby born at The Birth Place.
