Only minor injuries were reported in a three-vehicle accident Monday morning west of Carroll. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the collision at the intersection of Highway 30 and Hawthorne Avenue at approximately 11:54 a.m. According to an initial investigation, 54-year-old Sandra Joyce Kautzky, of Templeton, was traveling westbound in a 2012 Dodge Durango and preparing to turn south onto Hawthorne. Kautzky was yielding to an eastbound 2015 Toyota Highlander, driven by 71-year-old Ruth Marjorie Noelck, of Vail, when she was struck from behind by a westbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado K1500, operated by 22-year-old Trevor Benjamin Schnuckel, of Odebolt. After the initial collision, the truck spun sideways into the eastbound lane where it was struck by the Noelck vehicle. Noelck and Schnuckel were both transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services with minor injuries. Damage is estimated at $87,500, and the vehicles are considered total loses. Schnuckel was cited for failure to maintain control. The Carroll Fire Department assisted at the scene.
