Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC) will be highlighting a different business on their Facebook page every day this week in honor of National Small Business Week. From today (Monday) through Friday, May 4, they will showcase the impact these businesses have made on our local economy, and as CADC Executive Director, Shannon Landauer says, the smaller businesses are the backbone of our county.
The CADC will also be distributing some compelling numbers that show the importance of shopping locally. “Nationally, the Small Business Administration sets aside this week to celebrate National Small Business Week across the country. Locally, we wanted to do something to celebrate the small businesses right here in our backyards,” Landauer says. “One of the biggest struggles our local businesses face is online competition,” Landauer adds. “What we’re hoping to do during Small Business Week is remind people that much of what they’re looking for can be found locally. And, when you shop locally, you’re helping support your friends and neighbors as well as the communities you belong to and the services you enjoy.” Many of these businesses, the small ones and those who have grown much bigger, are providing goods and services here at home and well beyond our county’s borders.
The statistics will show that more than half of our county residents either work for or own small businesses, and these entities create two out of every three new jobs each year. To follow the CADC’s postings throughout this week, simply use the links included below.
