Carroll Man Sentenced To Two Consecutive Two-Year Prison Terms For Christmas Day Automobile Thefts

A Carroll County District Court Judge has handed down a prison sentence to a Carroll man who pled guilty to the theft of two vehicles on Christmas Day of last year. Forty-three-year-old Mathew John Kramer has been ordered to serve up to two years in prison on each of the counts, with the terms to run consecutively. The plea agreement reduced the original charges of second-degree theft, class D felonies, to operating without the owners’ consent, aggravated misdemeanors. Two counts of driving while barred were dropped. Fines and surcharges have been suspended, but Kramer will be required to pay a restitution amount that the courts will determine at a later date. Kramer pled guilty to taking a 2004 GMC Savana van and a 1998 Ford F-150 and moving them to locations just blocks from where they are normally garaged.
