Carroll County Gains Ground In Health Rankings

Carroll County has once again been ranked in the top-tier of the 2018 County Health Rankings, moving from 11th position in health factors to 10th in areas of health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors and physical environment. The county also moved up from 15th to 14th in health outcomes, which measures the length and quality of life. This year marks the five consecutive year of improvements in the rankings of both of those categories. In 2014, Carroll County ranked 18th in health factors and 46th in health outcomes. “I am proud of Carroll County’s top health ranking in 2018, and for Carroll County Public Health and St. Anthony Regional Hospital’s role in improving the health of our community members,” says Marcia Schaefer, St. Anthony Home Health, Hospice and Public Health Director. She adds that good health is a conscious effort and that many businesses and organizations are working together to promote wellness in our communities. The County Health Rankings compare counties within each state on more than 30 health-influencing factors, such as education, jobs and access to quality health care.
