A Lake View man was injured Thursday when his newly-purchased Quicksilver GT 400 plane crashed in a field near Maxwell. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that 43-year-old Jason Beckman suffered injuries to his legs and arms and was airlifted from the scene to a Des Moines hospital for treatment shortly after the accident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. Beckman was reportedly taking the ultralight aircraft up for the first time from a grass landing strip just shortly before the crash occurred.
