The Lake View Hometown Pride Committee is excited to announce the launch of their new Lifejacket Loaner Program. The idea was brought forward to promote water safety at Black Hawk Lake. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says they want every visit to the lake to be safe, as well as fun.
The program is expected to be up and running by the end of May. When completed, boaters, swimmers and fisherman will be able to grab a lifejacket from two separate loaner stations. Peterson says their initial hurdle is collecting a suitable inventory of vests.
Borrowing a life jacket will be completely free of charge and based on the honor system. Organizers hope to have the program operational by Memorial Day weekend. If the effort proves successful, the Lifejacket Loaner Program will be held every year from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
