CCSD Announces Finalists In Search For New Activities Director

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) has announced the finalists in their search for a new Activities Director. The pool of 24 candidates was narrowed down to three and includes Todd Gordon, Randy Bissen and Andrew Mitchell. Gordon currently serves at the Activities Director at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines with experience in teaching and coaching at the Carlisle, Treynor, Manning and Harlan schools. He holds a master’s degree from the University of South Dakota in Education Administration and is the acting president of the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association. Bissen, the current boys’ basketball coach, girls’ golf coach and fourth-grade teacher at Carroll, is the second finalist. He holds a master’s degree from Morningside College with experience as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Buena Vista University. The third finalist, Mitchell, is the Activities Director for Fort Madison Schools in eastern Iowa. Previously, he served as an administrator at the Alwood and Riverdale schools in Illinois and holds a master’s degree in Education Administration from Western Illinois University. He is the acting secretary for the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association. The candidates will be formally interviewed next Wednesday, April 11. The board hopes to announce a new Activities Director by the end of the month. The chosen candidate will officially begin at the start of the next fiscal year on July 1. The candidate will replace Keith Stribe, the school’s long time athletic director. Stribe was approved for early retirement in December of 2017.
