Three cars were damaged, one totaled, in an accident Tuesday afternoon in the Fareway parking lot. The Carroll Police Department responded to the scene on Monterey Drive at approximately 3:52 p.m. to conduct an investigation. They found that 72-year-old Ronald Dale Cornelius of Vail was entering the parking lot off Monterey headed west in a 2006 Toyota Avalon. He told officers that when he turned to the south in the lot, he was “gawking” at other things rather than paying attention and drove right into a parked 2008 Ford Fusion. The Fusion was then pushed into the side of another parked vehicle, a 2012 Ford Explorer. No injuries were reported, but the Fusion was totaled and it was estimated there was $1,500 in damage to each of the Explorer and the Avalon. Since the accident occurred in a private lot, no citations were issued.
