Glidden city employees will be seeing a bump in pay next fiscal year after the city council approved a cost-of-living wage increase last week. Beginning at the start of Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 on July 1, personnel compensation will increase by two percent. In addition, the city has awarded individual raises between one and three percent based on merit. During the same meeting, the council updated a city policy to encourage staff to earn workplace certifications in finance, mosquito spraying, pool operations and other similar tasks. The new policy states that any employee who receives a new certification will immediately receive a 25 cent raise in their hourly wage. This policy change is expected to impact five city positions.
