Organizers at the Carroll County Conservation Board (CCCB) are seeking volunteers in preparation to host their most popular annual event, the Earth Day Carnival. Hundreds of parents and children attend the celebration at the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center every year to learn more about nature, have fun and welcome warmer weather. Naturalist, Matt Wetrich, says it takes a lot of people to make things run smoothly, and they just do not have the staff to get everything ready on their own.
Volunteers are needed on both the day before and the day of the event. Wetrich says lending a hand will be fun and rewarding.
The carnival begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21 and ends around 2 p.m. Volunteers will be asked to be there a little before the event to finish some last minute tasks and after to help clean. He encourages anybody wanting to help to contact Swan Lake staff for more information.
A list of contact points to volunteer can be found included below this story.
