One of the annual routine business items for the Carroll City Council is the approval of a farm lease for the Future Farmers of America (FFA). The city leases the estimated six-acre plot to the west of the city cemetery for a token fee. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says this is a great partnership for area students.
Mayor, Dr. Eric Jensen, wanted to break the ice on the topic of how long this lease will be able to continue. And what, if any, estimates have been made about when the cemetery will need the land for expansion. Pogge-Weaver says it will be a few more years before they are faced with that decision.
Since this is an annual lease, when that time arises the FFA will be able to realize the full potential of the crop planted.
