The Greene County Sheriff’s Office says they received just shy of about a dozen calls on Tuesday about an IRS phone scam. Deputies with the department even received the calls. Residents reported that the caller demanded money or they would be arrested and/or have their property seized. Authorities urge everyone to just hang up on these types of calls. The IRS says they will first make contact in written form and will never demand payment be made over the phone or make threats such as this to anyone.
