Two KCIM AM Radio steel towers that have been a fixture on the landscape two miles south of Carroll since 1949 were taken down in only 20 seconds on Tuesday morning. A crew from Kilowatt Broadcast Specialists was on hand to remove two of the three towers to make room for one new unidirectional tower and transmitter building at the same site. The new tower is expected to be shipped to Carroll next week, and once it is erected, the third tower will be removed. The work on this should be done with the new 1380 AM signal going live in mid-April. In conjunction with this change, Carroll Broadcasting has applied for an FM translator license that will allow broadcasting of KCIM programming on that FM channel. More details of that process will be released in the near future. A link to video footage of the two towers being taken down can be found below.
