Authorities from Carroll, Greene and Guthrie Counties assisted the Jefferson Police Department in a chase on Tuesday night that ended without resolution. An investigation into the identity of the driver is ongoing after a Jefferson Police Officer attempted to stop a car with its headlight out at approximately 7:29 p.m. The car was spotted in the 300 block of North Grimmell Road, but the driver fled when the officer attempted to pull him over. A pursuit ensued, and the driver then circled back to drop off a female passenger at 1003 West Wall St. before continuing to flee from authorities. Officers lost sight of the vehicle west of Jefferson, but a short time later, a Guthrie County Deputy spotted the car in Bagley. After another short chase, the vehicle was found empty at an abandoned farm site south of Bagley. A K-9 unit was called in to search the area, but was unable to locate the driver. Although there has been no official report as of yet, the vehicle is believed to have been stolen from the Omaha, Neb. area. It was towed and placed in the impound lot in Jefferson. The female passenger, Karah Brown, was questioned by law enforcement, but is being uncooperative in helping with identification of the suspect.
