It Was A Tense Few Minutes When A Semi Rubs Against A Car On Highway 30 Tuesday

It was a harrowing few minutes for a Scranton woman who was pushed by a semi-tractor trailer on Highway 30 east of Scranton on Tuesday. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reports they responded to the scene of the accident near the intersection with Hillcrest Avenue at approximately 11:42 a.m. Upon arrival, they learned that a 1999 Kenworth C900 semi, driven by 40-year-old Charles Miller of Morrisonville, Ind., was traveling eastbound on Highway 30. He was following 63-year-old Shelley VanZeldren, who was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. VanZeldren moved into the left lane to pass a vehicle in front of her, but did not see that the Miller semi was already in that lane to pass her vehicle. The semi ended up pushing the driver’s side of the Impala for about 100 feet, before it entered the north ditch. A passenger in the VanZeldren vehicle was transported for observation to the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson by Greene County Emergency Medical Services. There was an estimated $7,500 in damage to the Impala and $2,000 in damage to the Kenworth tractor. The Jefferson and Scranton Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
