A Carroll man has been arrested on assault charges following an incident early this (Wednesday) morning. The Carroll Police Department responded to 914 N. Clark St. at approximately 3:43 a.m. on reports of an assault in progress involving a knife. When officers arrived on scene, they determined 37-year-old Adrian Thomas Torgerson had been involved in an argument with a male and a female at the residence. The female victim told authorities Torgerson had grabbed her by the hair and shirt and pulled out a knife. While holding her by the hair, he reportedly threatened the male with the knife. The woman sustained a minor puncture wound to her thigh during the altercation. Torgerson left the property and was arrested about a block away from the home. He was transported to the Carroll County jail and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor. An aggravated misdemeanor charge can carry a maximum sentence of up to five years imprisonment and $5,000 in fines.
